I was in Emporia primarily to support two friends racing in the 100-mile event. Photography wasn’t my main goal for the weekend — but I still managed to capture some amazing moments along the course.
While I didn’t catch every rider (as much as I wish I could have), I did organize everything into easy-to-browse galleries to help you find yourself.

Here’s a breakdown of where and what I shot:
Friday
- XL Starting Line – Riders heading out for the ultra challenge.
Saturday Race Day
- Elite Men Start – Their own gallery.
- Elite Women Start – Also separate for easy browsing.
- 100-Mile Start – Pre-race energy and anticipation.
- 50-Mile Junior Start – Young riders rolling out.
- XL Finishers (First Two) – Rob Britton and Lachlan Morton, Early arrivals at the finish line.
- Council Grove Checkpoint (Mile 54)
- Two galleries by time – 100-Mile riders only.
- I was shooting here until my friends came through, then switched to support mode.
- South of Lake Kahola
- Four time-based galleries.
- Mostly 100-Mile riders.
- Many of the top 30 Elite Men from the 200-Mile race.
- A few XL and 50-Mile riders as well.
I was out near Kahola for about 90 minutes. My main camera time was during the lull between support tasks, so if you were racing through there mid-day, you might spot yourself.
Find Your Photos By Your Race Number
When viewing the gallery page you can use the embeded search box on the page, type in your race/bib number, if I tagged your photos with the number they should be found. I have to manually tag photos, I tagged all the photos from the various locations I was shooting on course (not the starts) where I could read and identify bib numbers.
